Stellenbosch Wine Route

Just 45 minutes from Cape Town, the Stellenbosch wine route is the oldest in the country and represents over 300 wineries. Because of this it is divided into a number of sub-routes to make it easier to travel, namely: Bottelary Hills, Devon Valley Vintners, Helderberg and Simonsberg-Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch Wine Route was founded in 1971 and is the oldest wine route in the country. Now known as the Stellenbosch American Express® Wine Routes, it is divided into five sub-routes and represents more than 300 wine and grape producers within the boundaries of the Stellenbosch Wine of Origin classification; a name that has become synonymous with quality and diversity and a plethora of international awards.

Daily wine-tasting, cellar tours and sales are available at most cellars. Many have restaurant and picnic facilities as well as accommodation, gift shops, art galleries, amphitheatres, carriage rides and wildlife experiences, to name a few available attractions and activities.
