The Main House

Set out as a spacious and comfortable sitting room with accompanying glass - enclosed dining stoep the main house is the hospitality centre of the estate where guests can ‘feel at home’ whilst being cared for by our willing, friendly and well trained ‘host family’.

Guest Suites

There are just ten guest suites on the estate, arranged in five thatch roofed cottages. They are all of a similar design and standard, enjoying spectacular views over the olive grove or the lake in the foreground and to the far flung horizons of the Klein Karoo.

Each suite has a spacious double or twin bedded room, complete with all modern day facilities such as wifi, dstv, security safe, refrigerator, tea and coffee maker, as well as an open log fire and comfortable lounge seating. It also has a well-furnished, spacious, covered stoep (verandah) overlooking indigenous planted gardens. The bathroom has a free standing bath, an outside shower and a separately enclosed WC.  As most guests are self-driving an added benefit is to be able to drive to and park alongside each suite.​

Dining @ Galenia Estate

Breakfast – our ‘estate breakfast’ is planned to make sure that the Galenia guests start the day correctly. Many guests have already had an early morning walk or trek or joined the guided estate tour so are ready to do ‘full justice’ to the selection of fruits, yoghurts, juices, cereals, breads, muffins, cheeses, cold meats etc – let alone the cooked breakfast coming out of the kitchen. For many it is a time to have a leisurely breakfast, enjoying the views over the estate, the olives and the dam whilst they plan the day’s activities.

Lunch – whilst we do not do a ‘formal’ lunch we are pleased to offer a platter of cold meats and cheeses accompanied by relishes and chutneys and home baked bread served with a bottle of wine. This can be served at the pool, the Jacuzzi lounge or on your private stoep

​Dinner – our candlelight dinners are designed not to be rushed – relax and enjoy the ambiance of the main stoep. Our four course menu incorporates locally sourced and seasonal ingredients from both Galenia and our neighbouring estates, complemented by wines from the Robertson wine valley. Pre-dinner drinks are served in the lounge or on the terrace.

• Admire the Indigenous fynbos, as well as succulents and Nama Karoo Biomes
• Look out for Black Eagles, Rock Dassies, Tortoises, Wild Birds, Duiker and Klipspringers (small antelope) and Ostriches
• For the Hiking Trails, a good pair of hiking boots or walking shoes is essential. We recommend that you take a camera and/or binoculars

Galenia Olive Oil and Olives

The main agricultural emphasis of the estate is on the olive grove of one thousand mature olive trees which produces the ‘estate pressed’ extra virgin olive oil and both green and black table olives. Guests can attend a daily late afternoon olive familiarisation and tasting during their stay to learn more about the various cultivars and the complete process from tree to bottle.
