CHANDELIER GAME LODGE & OSTRICH SHOW FARM on the R62

Chandelier Game Lodge & Ostrich Show Farm is located between the lush green Garden Route and the wide-open spaces of the Klein (Little) Karoo, with the Outeniqua- and Swartberg mountain ranges as backdrops. This Oudtshoorn Game Lodge is easily accessible, next to the N12 (Route 62), and is an ideal base from which to explore the “Garden of Eden” along the Garden Route, as well as the rich diversity of the Klein Karoo and Route 62. The lodge is 7 km from Oudtshoorn and 48 km from George and the George Airport.

Our homely log cabins at Chandelier Game Lodge are totally self contained. A private deck and braai area promise a great experience with spectacular views of the mountains and plains. All log cabins have fully equipped kitchens and secure on site parking. 

Activities

Giraffe Experience Oudtshoorn

​Our two giraffes were rescued from certain death after Shorty’s mother injured herself and Shiela’s mother had no milk to feed her during the terrible drought. Shorty and Shiela are free to re-join the rest of the Chandelier giraffe herd whenever they like. Fortunately, they get so spoiled by the guests that they prefer to stay close to the restaurant.

Buffalo Experience

Chandelier offers guests the ideal opportunity to learn more about the once endangered Cape Buffalo. With our Buffalo experience, go home with the most amazing close-up photos as well as knowledge of one of South Africa’s “Big Five” members.  It is a short drive or easy walk to the Buffalo Breeding Herd. Either capture the moment accompanied by the game viewers or from behind a secure electric fence.

Ostrich Farm Tours

Ostriches remain one of the most fascinating attractions in South Africa, therefore great care has been taken on Chandelier to make the ostrich show farm tour an unforgettable experience.  This unique and exciting guided tour departs daily between 08h00 and 16h00. The tour is an easy walk through the farm starting off at the breeding ostriches with their small chicks. Our professional guides will ensure this educational tour is not only fun, but also provides you with a lot of information about the biggest bird in the world. You will have a chance to feed the ostriches by hand.

Dining in Style

Sundowner Bush Dinner

A perfect ending to an unforgettable day at Chandelier is the popular Sundowner Bush Dinner. Guests are transported to our lapa (shelter) high up in the mountains on open land rovers. At the lapa we spoil our guests with sundowners, while they adore the unique sunset over the Swartberg mountains. While the magnificent sunset gives way to the silence of the night, the guides do a traditional South African braai (barbeque), including kudu, ostrich and springbuck. The traditional African three course dinner includes a variety of traditional South African delicatessen.

After dinner we do guided star gazing from the lapa, where the stars of the Southern Hemisphere are so bright that you can almost touch them. We follow the star gazing up with a night game drive with spot lights to watch the behaviour of the creatures of the night. After the Sundowner Bush Dinner a peaceful sleep and sweet dreams, in our luxurious tented chalets, are guaranteed.

THE PERFECT WEDDING VENUE

Our restaurant with fully licensed bar can accommodate 140 guests around a spacious dance floor promising a romantic atmosphere. Chandeliers’ wooden chapel with a crystal chandelier is nested under the 100 years old pepper trees in a beautiful garden overlooking a lake with ducks and geese.
