Bethulie
General Information
Bethulie is a small farming town located in the Motheo and Xhariep region of the Free State Province, South Africa. Situated on the banks of Lake Gariep, it is well worth a stop over.
Bethulie was originally a French mission station and the directors of the Missionary Society decided on its name, which means "chosen by God". This region is well-known for its sheep and cattle-farming, with a semi-desert temperature. There are great fluctuations in temperature between the heat of the day and coolness of night.
The town has a lot of history attached to it, with many monuments and museums telling their own stories.
