Gariep Dam
The Gariep Dam is South Africa’s largest water storage reservoir, situated on the Orange River between the Northern Cape and the Free State just 30 kilometres east of Colesberg.
Surrounded by nature reserves, the Gariep Dam lies in a central location on the Southern border of the Free State where it borders the Eastern and Northern Cape provinces. With only around 284 properties and a permanent resident population of just 1 500, it is a tranquil and safe environment with clean air. It offers one of the best rural lifestyles and climates in the country.
Activities
Gariep Dam or Lake Gariep Route has a lot to offer visitors. Water sport on the dam is a big attraction with people coming from all over to enjoy the facilities.
