Geography and History

Wolwefontein is a quaint village situated on the R75 between Jansenville and Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa,  

There is a legend that the place was named after British settlers discovered brown hyenas drinking from a nearby spring and that, mistaking the hyenas for wolves, named it accordingly.  

Activities

Wolwefontein also borders the Karoo and Valley Bushveld regions, an area well-known for its wide variety of indigenous plants and succulents

Wolwefontein is in close proximity to many major tourist towns and attractions such as The Addo Elephant National Park, Baviaanskloof Wilderness Mega-Reserve, Cockscomb Mountain, Jansenville, Steytlerville, Uitenhage, Kirkwood, and can be considered the half-way mark between Port Elizabeth and Graaff-Reinet.
